Barbie

Barbie is a fashion doll from the U.S. toy company Mattel, Inc. and started production in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler (1916-2002) is credited with creating the doll with a German doll called Bild Lilli his inspiration.

Barbie has an important part of the market for toys, fashion dolls, for fifty years, and is the subject of numerous controversies and lawsuits, often with a parody of the doll and her lifestyle. In recent years, Barbie has seen increasing competition from the Bratz line of dolls.
